This conference is taking place against a very important backdrop. While the right-wing forces across the globe, and especially in the United States and in India, are growing bolder and stronger, there is also a strong resistance growing against them. In the USA anti-fascist and anti big corporate monopolies especially in banking & insurance and health care with the slogan of ‘free health care and free education to all’ are challenging the ideological bankruptcy within the Democratic Party. This has led to the rise of young progressive democratic socialists such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (28), Summer Lee (30), and Sara Innamorato (32) and others who are supported and endorsed by Democratic Socialists of America. Democrats who defy corporate money organize themselves as Justice Democrats.
In India, seat sharing arrangements of secular and progressive parties in by-elections has defeated RSS/BJP in Kairana, Gorakhpur and Phulpur parliamentary seats and Noorpur assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh. RSS/BJP is NOT able to gain a single parliamentary seat in 27 by-elections held since 2014 across 15 states while it has lost 9 seats. The RSS/BJP’s vote share too has decreased.
History shows us that in the face of such defeats the right-wing will adopt more divisive tactics and adopt new strategies to divide the people. In India, this has manifested itself in the form of mob lynching. So far 109 mob lynchings have been reported between Jan 2014 and Jul 2018. Secular and progressive forces will have to exercise more solidarity to counter an aggressive right-wing.
United struggle against the right-wing on cultural, political, social and economic fronts is the only way to defeat them permanently. Let’s join together and mobilize the oppressed, regardless of caste, class, race, gender, religion, sexuality and nationality to wage a determined united struggle.
AKSC cordially invites you all to attend the conference to show and build solidarity. Please share widely with your friends and relatives.
Regards

Resolutions
The AKSC Conference 2018 have received overwhelmed support and participation from many like-minded friends and family. The Conference has successfully been concluded with the following two resolutions:
Click on each resolution below for more detail:
-
Conduct Bay Area Annual Conference with Fraternal and likeminded Organizations
-
Introducing Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar to the Universities and the Colleges in the USA by instituting Dr. Ambedkar Chairs

Resolution 1: Bay Area Annual Conference with Fraternal and Likeminded Organizations
Bay Area Annual Conference with Fraternal and Likeminded Organizations
The world is witnessing NOT only a great rise of right-wing forces BUT also such forces are voted to the power. It’s a disillusion to think that NEVER an authoritarian and fascist party voted to power. It happened in Europe in the 1930s and it’s happening now across the world. The only way to stop them is to build a united front with various anti-fascist organizations and waging an ideological struggle against them. The RSS/BJP is such an organization whose ideology is rooted in hatred and divisive politics.
In order to challenge them ideologically, the fraternal organizations in the Bay Area will organize an annual conference to challenge Hindutva ideology to build a plural and diversified society based on social justice.
The AKSC will work with such fraternal and like-minded organizations to realize such annual conference.
Resolution 2: Introducing Ambedkar to the Universities and the Colleges in the USA by instituting Dr. Ambedkar chairs
Introducing Ambedkar to the Universities and the Colleges in the USA by instituting Dr. Ambedkar chairs.
The great leaders who have fought for the Social Justice in their respective countries are continuing to influence the people beyond their national boundaries. Just to mention a few of those leaders are Dr. Nelson Mandela, Periyar E.V Ramasamy, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., et al.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar affectionately known as Babasaheb, an Indian revolutionary leader, was born on April 14th, 1891 entered into active public life in 1919 when he was 28 years old and reminded active in public life till his death in 1956. During these 37 years of his public life, he observed several roles as scholar, teacher, lawyer/attorney, parliamentarian, administrator, journalist, publicist, negotiator, agitator, and a leader. He relentlessly worked and sacrificed his entire life to build a society based on liberty, fraternity, and equality.
Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar has written several books and widely commented and spoken on a range of issues such as social justice, economics, sociology, anthropology, religion, constitutionalism, public administration, nationalism, and et al. The government of Maharashtra, India which has began to compile his work in 1979 and by 1990 some his most important works available as books to the masses. So far 17 volumes of his works are available and yet to compile remaining huge collection of his works. Such compilations have made the tremendous influence on Dalit movements across India.
It’s insane for one to conclude that it’s very unfortunate that Dr. Ambedkar’s writings and works have been NOT introduced to the Indian academia but rather it’s a purposeful act of the Indian ruling class NOT to popularize Dr. Ambedkar to the Indian people. The situation got changed post 1990s when Dalit movements across India have become a force to be reckoned which started influencing the academia to engage with Dr. Ambedkar seriously. However, they are far from being realized completely.
Columbia University, New York, the USA, alma mater of Dr. Ambedkar has instituted a constitutional chair in 2010.
The oppressed across the national boundaries to learn from each other to wage a strong and determined struggle for social justice. In such backdrop, this conference resolute to take Dr. Ambedkar to the Universities and Colleges in the United States of America to engage the students and academia in his ideas to build a world based on liberty, equality, and fraternity. Also this conference resolute to reach the Indian government to sponsor for institute chairs for Dr. Ambedkar studies in the American universities.
